Mecca Must Haves!

Now we in New Zealand don't have the greatest access to a lot of brands that our fellow makeup lovers over in the UK and US do. We don't have stores like Sephora, Ulta, Selfridges and all those beautiful lovely places we can only dream about. But the one thing we do have is Mecca Cosmetica!

Let me show you the description from their website:
"At Mecca Cosmetica you will discover the ultimate edit of the most loved, most effective, bonafide best of the best in global beauty – think of it as your cosmetic couturier.

Mecca is what I describe as my happy place within my happy place (in Christchurch Mecca is located within the department store Ballantynes). It has a wide variety of brands including: Stila, NARS, Bare Minerals, Ellis Faas, By Terry, Sunday Riely and MORE!! The staff there are always lovely and know their stuff, so never be scared when going in for the Mecca Experience!

Now there are two products which I call my "Mecca Must Haves!", these are the: NARS Bronzing powder in Laguna and the Bare Minerals Original Foundation!

First things first lets get a bit bronzy up in here. The Laguna bronzer is by far my favourite bronzer of all time. I am one of these annoying pale people that EVERY SINGLE BRONZER looks very very orange and muddy on, does Laguna do this?? NO!! It gives you this amazing bronzed glow, that is very healthy and not at all orange. There is a very very very slight shimmer running through this bronzer but once on the skin you do not notice and a lot of people I know use it for contouring. If you are of a more medium-deeper skin tone you could probably get away with this but I am still a little on the pale side for this too look good on me. I use this just about everyday around the perimeter of my face to give some dimension and a wee bit on my cheeks and where the light would naturally hit. This bronzer is a must have for ALLLLLL!!!!!!!

Now you guys know I like to keep it real up in here? In the essence of that I will tell you at first I wasn't too keen on the Bare Minerals Foundation. I don't know why I just wasn't. Maybe it was because I didn't like the finish or that I couldn't get enough coverage out of it but it just sat in my makeup drawer for a while. But the last few winter months I decided to give it another go and boy am I glad that I did. For reference I use the shade N10 Fairly Light, which is quite pale and probably won't suit me once we go into summer. Now Bare Minerals have the "Swish and Tap" way of applying this foundation. You pour a little bit of the product into the lid, work it around in the lid with your brush to "warm up the product" then you buff it onto your skin. Now this may seem a bit naff but let me tell you, the finish it leaves on your skin is amazing. It just blurs every single imperfection you have and leaves you almost with a soft focus over the entire face! Now you might be thinking "Oh that's a powder I can't use it on my dry skin" WRONG! In winter my skin packs a sad and goes from oily to more combo-dry and this didn't cling to any of my dry patches at all! This bad boy is now a regular in the makeup routine!

Hope you guys enjoyed this wee post about Mecca and my two must haves! If you have any must haves from Mecca leave them below in the comments and next time I am in I'll give them a go!

X's and O's

Matthew
